Year 3

Welcome to Year 3.

My name is Mrs. Macleod and I am the class teacher. The teaching assistant who works with the class is Mrs Quirk.

Our aim in Year 3, is to make the transition across the key stages exciting and fun, whilst encouraging the children to take a real responsibility for their own learning. The children are supported in becoming more effective and independent learners by developing lots of their skills, as well as learning new ones.

In Year 3 the children will have the opportunity to learn a variety of topics across the curriculum. Each half term there will be a different topic title and the children will be given the chance to ask questions and decide which areas of the topic they want to investigate further.

The children will have weekly PE lessons and will also have the opportunity to learn through our Forest School experience, where they will get to have fun and muddy in our forest area.

One of the highlights of new learning in Year 3 is learning how to swim! The children really thrive and enjoy celebrating each others successes at the local swimming pool, where their bravery and trust is rewarded in their developed confidence and swimming skills.

If you have any further questions or queries, please do not hestitate to speak to me.

Mrs Miller
