Our Recovery Curriculum

For the first half of the autumn term we will be focussing on English and Maths in the morning sessions. English will include twice daily phonics for years 1 and 2 and twice daily spelling and grammar years 3, 4, 5, and 6. The children will also have twice daily Guided Reading lessons.  Maths will include daily mental maths and a catch up lesson to address gaps from the summer term as well as following White Rose Maths for the autumn term.

Afternoons will be a mixture of sessions around mental health and well -being including daily physical exercise, PSHE and RE.  We realise that children may need time to discuss their anxieties in relation to the pandemic and their own experiences and it is important that we give time to this so that they can feel safe and happy to re-engage with their learning.

By October half term we will be back to having a broad and balanced curriculum for all our children. Throughout the rest of the academic year we will be planning focussed days to ensure that the children catch up with the areas of learning that they missed in the summer term.
