St James' Church

St James' Church 1St James' Church 2(1)

At Sankey Valley we value our links with St James’ Church and its members. St James’ is an award-winning child-friendly church which welcomes everyone. The church family actively supports our school and the children and parents regularly attend St James’ for key festivals such as Harvest, Christmas and Easter. Martin Thorpe, our vicar, takes an active part in the life of the school through leading worship in school on a weekly basis. He also takes part in R.E lessons and leads confirmation classes for those children who wish to be confirmed. Martin, with a team of staff and church helpers, leads a weekly after school club called Good News Club, as well as regular Messy Family (Messy Church) events that are well attended by school families. Regular Eucharist services are celebrated in school and parents and members of the St James’ congregation are always welcome to attend.

Messy Families

        WHAT IS ‘MESSY FAMILIES’?

Messy Families is a time when:

  • Families – adults, children, young people, babies, all ages get together
  • We enjoy spending time with each other
  • We can all make things together
  • We can eat and have FUN together!

                At Messy Families we will:

  • Have some nice food
  • Make biscuits  and models and crafts together
  • Sing some songs together
  • Celebrate together

So… why not come along with your family and friends... we have a wide choice                          of crafts suitable for every age to have a go at making. Then enjoy a short story                         and some songs with our vicar, Martin, and the Messy Families team.
